A Digital Configurator for the World’s Rarest Hypercars

Zenvo Automotive is a Danish manufacturer of ultra-exclusive, hand-built hypercars. Each vehicle blends advanced engineering, eye-catching design, and custom craftsmanship, produced in extremely limited quantities for clients who demand nothing less than perfection.

Zenvo needed a hypercar configurator that matched the exclusivity of its vehicles, both visually and technically. The goal was to allow users to configure their cars with high-precision 3D renderings, smooth interactions, and instant performance. The client also required full control over configuration options and content management. Given the price range of Zenvo models (over €2M), every detail of the configurator had to meet the expectations of the world’s most discerning clientele.

We developed a standalone vehicle configurator that is accessible from Zenvo’s main website. This tool allows users to save, send, and download their configurations, either directly or through authorized dealers. We also built a back-office system to manage saved configurations and maintain available options. We optimized the entire setup for speed, image quality, and an excellent user experience.

This car configurator is backed by thousands of individually pre-rendered 4K images, with layers that are composited in the browser to produce the final result across 7 exterior and 3 interior views. When a user makes a selection, the browser updates the composition instantly.

The final image has to look completely natural, with no visible trace of the layers underneath. Layers visible through glass need their own segmentation, since reflections and refractions distort light and interact differently with each surrounding material, making seamless blending particularly demanding.

Deliberate, narrow use of AI tools enabled us to build custom scripts and software plug-ins that manage large amounts of assets and complex shader networks, and help us automate image processing across the full asset library.

To ensure a stable, repeatable, and maintainable environment, we built the project's infrastructure with Terraform, following Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles. The infrastructure runs on DigitalOcean, a platform Zenvo had used before and wanted to continue with. We quickly adapted and, using Terraform, provisioned production and staging infrastructure for our applications, providing the team with a consistent, version-controlled setup.

The final configurator and administration system provides a premium digital experience that aligns with Zenvo's brand and meets customer expectations. It delivers precision, speed, and visual quality that reflect the craftsmanship of Zenvo's hypercars, improving both the online presentation and the interaction process between clients and dealers.
